It's a common practice for developers to developers to warn you about price increases. Certainly a lot more cheaper than buying hardware. Is it affordable? maybe, if you have an above average salary and live for this game exclusively.

Now 12 usd is about 140 pesos (with the fair conversion), that was the price for 1100 cells, yes you could buy any other full game with that price but that's an issue in every country, in my case I never felt the need to buy anything over than one skin and the renewable pass. In a good steam sale you can get really good games for 10 usd. This conversion still applies to over half of the steam store, so it's not sane to spend on this game anymore after this change.
